At IMJ HR we understand the critical importance of ensuring that best D&I practice is assured across organisations. With our extensive experience of diversity and inclusion issues from both a personal and professional perspective, we understand that D&I works best when all employees are actively engaged with the assurance of best practice, through education and training. It is also crucial that organisations ensure that they have policies that welcome diversity, support all employees, and create an inclusive and productive working environment.
At IMJ HR we believe that Competence, Creativity and Cultural awareness are the key elements in a productive organisation. Competence should always be the priority for any employer, and it is therefore in their ultimate interest to ensure that they employ the most competent professionals within their organisation.
This is achieved by ensuring that their recruitment process is unbiased and provides an equality of opportunity for all prospective applicants. Once employed, all personnel need to be assured (through clear measurable objectives and appraisals) that they are assessed and rewarded based on their competence at their job, and how they have performed against their targets set at the outset of the year. They should also be measured against their compliance with company policies, including health and safety and D&I.
Creativity within an organisation enables it to provide an inclusive and productive working environment. Consulting across the whole organisation ensures that those who engage are contributing to the upkeep and development of an inclusive and vibrant working culture where competence is rewarded, and malpractice is challenged.
Cultural awareness encourages organisations and all employees to fully understand their environment and their colleagues. It should also include an individual introspective assessment, whereby individuals, across the whole workforce, are encouraged to assess their awareness of their own personal traits and characteristics, and how they personally impact upon their environment and those around them.
We relish the challenge that engaging with diverse cultures and environments brings. Biases, cultural traits, protected characteristics and the law, all combine to create what at times can be challenging situations in the workplace. It is therefore critical that individuals and organisations understand what their responsibilities are under the law, and understand the benefits of their contribution to a productive, safe and conducive workplace environment.
Identifying areas for improvement and establishing best-practice across a spectrum of the HR areas of responsibility is a challenging, but a hugely rewarding undertaking. We can use our invaluable experience and inter-personal skills to address your D&I concerns from creating bias-free recruiting projects, evaluating daily management processes to assessing organisational cultures.
